Blacks Hold Out Camden To Move To Equal Fourth

MatchReportThe Bowral Blacks have continued their strong start to the season with a narrow 25 – 20 win over Camden at Camden Rugby Park. In Saturdays Round 5 IDRU Builders Club Premiership match Bowral raced to a 19 – 0 lead after just twelve minutes of play before finally hanging on for the win over a very determined Camden side. The win now sees the Blacks in equal fourth spot with Vikings as the competition goes into a one week hiatus due to next week’s Country Championship carnival in Armidale.

Bowral were in complete control of the match for the first twenty minutes. Their forwards were controlling possession at the break down, their scrum was dominant, they were winning the lineouts and the penalty count was three nil to Bowral as they put on three tries. The first try was scored inside the first minute as Fullback Henry Yuill returned a kick from inside his own half with a sensational run down the left wing leaving three Ram defenders in his wake. He passed to flanker George Harrison who was left with plenty of work to do, as he also beat three defenders to score after a twenty meter run to the line.
