Hi everyone and welcome to the “Catch-Up” round of the Builders Club Illawarra Rugby Competition where we will see four Round 9 games played that were washed out back in June. Well things are well and truly hotting up for the finals series with only two rounds left following this weekend’s catch up games.

The Club Championship is an interesting race with Shamrocks out in front from Avondale and University. The Rocks don’t play this week and depending on the results at Gerry Capetta Field (Avondale Ground) the Club Championship will come right down to the wire in the final rounds. Avondale or University really need to make a clean sweep of wins in all grades this week to have a chance, and I’m tipping that not to be the case. While it’s not official I think the Rocks will win the Club Championship due to their easier draw in the last two rounds.

The minor premiership defined itself further last week when University suffered a shock loss to sixth placed Vikings and will now need to rely on Shamrocks losing a match to make the top two and major semi-final berth. Avondale and Shamrocks both had comfortable wins and are now well ahead of The Students in third. The Butler had the Students finishing in his top two but now that might not be the case. If University don’t beat Avondale this weekend it will be between the Wombats and Rocks for the Minor Premiership.
