Christmas message from the President

To all the Camden Rugby family,

On behalf of your committee I want to wish you all a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

2016 was a terrific year for our club with the Junior Rams in U10’s and 11’s finishing as champions and great participation and enthusiasm across all the teams. With Jaimie and the new junior subcommittee raring to go next season holds a mountain of promise.

The seniors Rams saw many of the colts debut in grade, including the opportunity to play in the 1sts. The strong commitment of the players to the club and each other showed through each grade, every week. Next season has a lot of potential, as a new group of players step into leadership roles, on and off the field, following the retirements of some of our best.

The number of social members has grown phenomenally; with this tremendous support off the field the clubhouse was regularly packed. Next season our aim is to grow even more, with another great social package that will offer something for everyone.

The Chain gang has kept our clubhouse looking magnificent, with regular repairs and polish. There will be a brand new equipment shed completed in the next few days that will let us keep the gear clean and organised, ready for the season ahead. The grounds continue to be the envy of other clubs. Our canteen runs like a well-oiled machine on Saturdays and Sundays, providing food, drinks (and funds) to keep things running.

The 2016 Committee under Peter Windle have set a great platform for us to move into the 2017 season. James Patrick, our new First grade coach is jumping out of his skin. James embodies our ‘One Camden Rugby’ spirit and his enthusiasm is spreading through all of our players and coaches.

We are all very honoured to represent Camden Rugby, our home ground is the place we meet every week for our Rugby, but we are all part of the Camden Rugby club every day, everywhere. Let’s make 2017 an even greater year for Camden Rugby! Hard work off the paddock to support our players and their teams on the paddock.

As Vince Lombardi said "Individual commitment to a group effort--that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work."

Merry Christmas and go the Rams!

Gary Howell
President
