President Peter Woods Standing Down

The Illawarra District Rugby Union Board would like to announce the pending retirement of long-serving IDRU President, Mr Peter Woods. Mr Woods will step down from the role at the conclusion of the 2019 IDRU AGM.

Peter is a Life Member of Vikings Rugby Club and played for them for 14 years from 1971 – 1984. Joining the Illawarra Referees in 1983, he has served in the position of President to the organisation and is also a Life Member. Peter’s service has extended to country rugby, as a Country Rugby Union Referee, President of Country Rugby Union, and Life Member. The Illawarra District Rugby Union has benefited enormously from Peter’s passionate service to rugby having retained Peter on the Board as Secretary for 18 years from 1980 – 1997, then as President to this day. Peter is, of course, a Life Member of the IDRU.

The IDRU Board wishes to thank Peter for his contributions to Rugby Union in the Illawarra District. He will be sorely missed. Peter will remain associated with the district post the 2019 AGM, offering his services as an advisor and a member of the IDRU Judiciary panel.

The IDRU Board has appointed Mr Darin Crofts to the role of IDRU President commencing at the conclusion of the 2019 IDRU AGM. Darin is a past VP and Committee member from the Campbelltown Harlequin club and has been a member of the Illawarra District Rugby Union Board since 2016 when Campbelltown returned to the Illawarra district competition. Darin is currently the district registrar and the Senior Representative Program Director

Mr Crofts will be subject to re-appointment at the 2020 IDRU AGM in accordance with the IDRU Constitution.
