Update 4 Regarding COVID-19
To the Camden Rugby Union Club Members, Sponsors and Supporters,
I hope you and your families are keeping safe and well in this difficult time.
By this stage of the IDRU season, 5 rounds would have been decided. I am fearlessly forecasting we are still undefeated in all three grades and would be busily preparing for our Round 6 clash away against Vikings. Our Juniors would have also been undefeated and playing this Sunday at home. But disappointingly, as you know, none of this has happened.
We have also missed out on our “Back to Camden Day” against arch rivals Harlequins (hopefully we can hold this later in the year) and hosting the Western Sydney Two Blues in their Shute Shield game against Eastern Suburbs.
And it certainly was an unforgettable Mother’s Day last weekend, for all the wrong reasons again thanks to COVID-19. You couldn’t take mum out for Sunday lunch, but hopefully you were able to catch up with her, spoil her and thank her for all of the tireless work she's done and will continue to do.
It’s certainly a challenging time, but we will need to accept that things will be different for a while.
The Illawarra District Rugby Union Board has been meeting fortnightly and will make a final decision on how the 2020 season will be by the end of this month.
The Camden Rugby Committee are meeting regularly and being proactive on a range of topics to ensure the Club is ready to go when the season starts.
We are still in discussion with clubs from Illawarra and other zones to arrange matches or gala days for Seniors and Juniors (this might be twilight matches in the October-December period, to give our players games).
Working on the clubs strategic planning and updating the clubs constitution.
Investigating on upgrading the lighting to the two fields.
We are investigating touring games to various regions of NSW e.g. Riverina, Canberra, Central West and Central Coast for Seniors and Junior teams.

Yes, COVID-19 has impacted us all in some way and try to keep in perspective that the world will keep turning and the sun will still come up every day and Rugby Union will return.
