After days like Saturday, its hard to write a positive piece especially, after a hard day in the office. But Days like this is character building, defines a clubs attitude and the response is IMPORTANT and how we define who we are and what we are!

WE ARE PROUD TO WEAR THE GOLD AND BLACK, the men God sent from Heaven and he doest wan’t them back, we play from our Hearts and we Contest. Right down to the last whistle in every grade we could have stopped trying but we never gave up, how could we, what about the supporters they travelled and stayed till the final whistle, Old Boys, parents, Wives, partners and Kids made the trek down they are just as much part of the club as the players so they deserve our loyalty to the jersey! We can’t understand the emphasis on this.

The day was surprisingly splendid given the previous days weather with a high precipitation recorded. The track was well groomed considering the weeks weather, for the top 2 Clubs in the Illawarra Competition.

Hello to all the Camden Faithful, its been a while since the Match Day Reporter has written up in here, but given the circumstances of the stock market coupled with unfavourable weather I assume you all understand the difficult circumstances that have arisen. After a 3-week layoff due to Weather and Scheduled Bye’s, Camden haven’t had the best first half of the second round of the competition. While the well-oiled machine that is 3rd Grade, nick named “Black Caviar” keeps on rolling, it seems our 2 top grades have hit a little stumbling block.

On Saturday 27th of August (after our home game against Wollondilly and Bundanoon) Camden Rugby will be hosting it's annual

This Saturday the 30th of July is the Annual Back to Camden Day. Camden will be hosting Vikings, and will be expecting close contests in all grades. In addition to the youngsters running around, trying to cement semi final spots, the Golden Oldies will be playing a special exhibition match.

When people ask me about playing rugby, and I let them know what club I play for most are surprised of my glowing appraisal of the club not to mention my affection for it. From speaking to fans on the side line in past weeks, to the young boys who I see at nearly all our home games supporting, who dream to one day not to don any other jumper except the first grade jersey of Camden it helps you understand more that this is more than a club, it’s a family.

3rd Grade Camden 29 – Wollondilly 15

2nd Grade Camden 57 – Bundanoon 24

Camden closed out the last round of the  first half of the comp with a convincing sweep, which paves the way for a intriguing 2nd round where all teams will be jostling for top 5 positions. Camden has put themselves in the frame for Finals in all 3 grades, and has stamped themselves as real Club championship candidates.

Club championship is a major honour, while the 3 grades are all competing on 3 different fronts, the club championship reflects the success of the club similar to that of the constructors championship in F1.

Camden 2nds 24 – Avondale 27

Camden 1st XV 9 – Avondale 39

This was the question facing the Camden club at their moment of truth. The run of top quality opponents was to reach boiling point, as the Rams were going to host the other in form club of the competition Avondale Wombats. It was billed as the Clash of the Titans, and it did not disappoint, with the top 2 teams battling for the Club Championship coming Head to Head.

After several successful weeks, and two one point wins against the 2010 first and second XV Premiers, Vikings, an aura of confidence has developed at Camden. However as the teams traveled down to Wollongong University, no one was under any impression that we were coming up three very determined and well-drilled Student squads.

3rd XV Camden 17 Vikings 7

2nd XV Camden 32 Vikings 31

First XV Camden 28 Vikings 27

After having 3 successful straight home games, Camden travelled down to Wollongong looking for redemption following a sub par performance the previous week.

Vikings had prepared a Running Rugby friendly pitch, coupled with the early morning favourable weather made it a firm, dry & very quick track. 3rd Grade was looking to continue on their merry winning ways, while the top 2 grades were looking to erase the results afforded upon them 7 days earlier. What eventuated was a entertaining day of Rugby, which went a long way into the top 2 grades redeeming themselves, and being welcomed back into the winners circle by the all conquering Camden 3rds.

"There are no shortcuts to any place worth going."

And this weeks results made it, that much sweeter. The berry could not have been any blacker, as this was the sweetest moment of the clubs season to date. An away sweep against the reigning 2nd and 1st XV Champions.
