Camden Junior Rugby Academy

The Rugby Academy has now finished and will start up again in October 2020

Camden Junior Rugby Academy

Camden Rugby is delighted to announce an exciting new Off Season Programme for 2019!

The Camden Junior Rugby Academy is open to boys and girls aged10 and older, and has the following objectives:

1. To have fun!

2. To maintain and improve our player's fitness

3. To maintain and improve their functional strength as it relates to rugby (with particular emphasis on core strength)

4.  To continue to build rugby related skills - particularly those that will be required with the new rules as they move through the various grades (competitive scrums, lineout lifting etc)

5.  Equip new players with the Rugby Fundamentals.

To achieve these items we're runing an 8-week programme at 6pm on Wednesday and Friday nights starting on the 16th of October. The sessions will be run primarily at Camden's Grounds, with occasional excursions to other locations. We will be establishing performance baselines for the guys and reviewing these mid programme and at the end. We also intend to mix things up a bit by adding in some external voices (eg Boxing Gym sessions) for the players to hear. Given the time of the year - most of the programme will be light/no contact.

We think this will be the best preparation for our players, as they enter 2020. starting the season fitter, will increase their enjoyment of rugby immeasurably. The cost is $195 (and you can contribute your July Active Kids $100 voucher to the programme). You'll register on Rugby Xplorer and will need a Rugby ID (which can also be obtained from the Rugby Australia App, Rugby Xplorer). For that, you get the 8-week course, training top, shorts and bucket hat, and automatic registration as a Camden Junior player in the 2020 comp.

We can register you on the spot at a session - so feel free to come down and see if you like it!  Participants should wear shorts, t-shirts, runners, a hat/sunscreen and bring a water bottle (we can refill at the ground).

It's not too late to come and get fit and learn how to play our great game of Rugby Union

Hope to see you there!
