Camden Junior Rugby Academy

We’re delighted to announce that the Camden Junior Rugby Academy will be running again in 2020.

Camden Junior Rugby Academy

What is it?

The Camden Junior Rugby Academy is an off-season development programme run for those players who want to improve their rugby fitness and rugby skills.

It’s a six week programme that features Strength and Conditioning work as well as rugby skills sessions from an experienced and varied group of rugby coaches. Additionally this year we are also able to include a session with the New South Wales ‘Tahs’ Rugby Academy who have agreed to run one of the sessions at the Camden Academy. The Tah’s Academy is run by the Head of Rugby Talent for NSW Rugby, who will be attending on the day.

The Tah’s The Strength and Conditioning component of the programme will be run on Monday nights (6:30pm-7:30pm), by Shorrocks Human Movement & Rehabilitation Services, in a series of sessions specifically designed for Camden Rugby by Sports Scientist, Dave Shorrocks. The programme will feature skills, strength and aerobic fitness work and guidance for the players. They will also be given homework!

The Rugby skills component of the Academy will be delivered on Friday afternoons from 6-7pm.

We have secured an excellent line up of coaches to assist the players in developing their position specific and rugby generic skill sets. The coaches we have selected feature individuals who experience at Australia U18’s, Shute Shield, Country Cockatoo’s U19’s, Illawarra First Grade, and Illawarra Junior Representative levels.

Who’s it for?

It’s ideal for those Illawarra Representatives or if players are aspiring to representation. We urge all current Camden players in these grades to attend.
